This type of quiz should be familiar to many people since it is
essentially a word search puzzle such as you may have done with
pencil and paper. There are some additional features, however. As it
is designed to be educational, if you hold the cursor over one of
the words in the list, a definition of the word will pop up.
To play:
- When you start, notice that the yellow box to the right is
selected. When you click and drag the mouse over letters
that form a word from the list, they will be highlighted in that
color:

- You may select any of the four colors. This is a good
idea, although not necessary, in order to keep selected words
separate from each other (many overlap). The word in the
word list was clicked on, thus making its color the same as the
highlighted word, again a good idea to keep track of your
progress.
- Words are placed in the grid vertically, horizontally, and
diagonally. When you drag the mouse diagonally, you will
almost certainly highlight letters you didn't mean to. You
can avoid this by clicking letters individually. You can
correct mistakes by right clicking on the letter, returning the
background color to white.

- Pressing the Picture Check button will show how many letters
remain to be selected. when this reaches 0, you can
display the picture by passing the mouse over the white area.
The number could be less than 0 if you have selected to many
letters.

- When you believe the quiz is completed, press the Check
Answers button. WARNING: Once you press this button, there
is no going back! Remember that you can click the Picture
Check button to confirm you have selected enough letters.
The first picture below shows the completed quiz prior to
pressing the Check Answers button, and the second show the quiz
after pressing Check Answers:

- Notice that missed letters are highlighted in red. Had
the Picture Check Button been clicked prior to Check Answers,
you would have seen:

- Passing the mouse over the white area will not display the
picture. To see the picture, you may enter the number 0
into the box next to Picture Check, then pass the mouse over the
white area to show the picture:

Each time you start this puzzle, or click the refresh button in
your browser, the quiz will appear with different letters
surrounding the words to be selected. You might be surprised
how much impact that can have on the difficulty of the quiz.
There are many ways in which you can choose to solve the quiz,
including color selections and the use of the Picture check button.
There are no right and wrong ways in which to do these quizzes.
