This style of quiz is based upon the popular Sudoku puzzles.
However, instead of arranging the numbers 1-9 such that each small
box has each number, and each row and column has each number, with
no duplications of any number in any small box, row or column, you
are to arrange nine different colors with the same rules as for the
numbers.
To play:
- You can make the puzzle as easy or as hard as you like by pressing
the "Show Clues" button as many times as you like.
The letter 'C' will appear in a box whose color was selected in
this manner. The number of times the Show Clues button was
clicked is in the box to the left of the button.

- You may want to click the Picture check button at this time.
The box to the right of the button shows how many squares in the
grid have not yet had the proper color selected. Check the
math: 81 total squares - 8 squares shown as clues = 73 squares
to be selected.

- Select a color to place in the grid by clicking on a color
from the vertical color strip to the left. The selected
color will appear as the background color of the Show Clues
number box. Place the color anywhere in the grid by
clicking on a square. If you make a mistake, right click
the square to return it to white. A square whose color was
selected in this manual way is indicated by the letter 'S'.

- Another way to show proper colors along with the Show Clues
button is by correctly answering a question. Select a
question by picking a colored radio button in the horizontal
color strip for which you would like to have the correct
placements indicated in the grid. In the picture below,
the orange radio button was selected, and a question appears in
the box below. The orange radio button is grayed out
because you get only one shot at correctly answering the
question.

- Select either true or false to the right, and press the
Check Answer button. If you get the answer right, all
entries of the selected color will be properly placed in the
grid, and the boxes so selected will have the letter 'Q' placed
in them.

- If you get the answer wrong, no changes will appear in the
grid. The explanation for the question will now appear in the
box above the Check Answer button.
- Fill in the rest of the grid using any combination of Show
Clues, answering questions, or manually selecting and entering
colors. In some cases, more than one letter may appear in
the box. This happens when a box is selected both by the
Show Clues button and by correctly answering a question ('CQ"
would appear in the box).

- Note that this quiz used 12 clues and answered one question
correctly. One square has 'CQ' in it. If you are
ready, click Check Answers. WARNING: Once you click check
Answers, there is no going back!

- Squares that were correctly selected have no letters in
them. Mistakes are indicated by the letters 'XX" in the
box. All of the proper colors are indicated. This
solution was pretty bad, right? I could have checked
Picture Check prior to clicking Check answers, and had I done
so, I would have seen:

- Had I done this prior to clicking the Check Answers button,
I would have seen that I had 49 errors. Also note that no
picture will appear if I pass the mouse over the white area.
I can still see the picture after clicking Check Answers,
however, by passing the mouse over the white area:

There is no right or wrong way to do these quizzes. Each
time you work on the same quiz (whenever you hit the refresh button
on your browser), you will get different squares selected after
pressing the Show Clues button. You can make these quizzes as
hard or as easy as you like by using combinations of Show Clues,
answering questions, manually selecting squares, and through
creative use of the Picture check feature.
One way to 'cheat' is to click the Picture Check button and note
the number. Make a selection, then click Picture check again.
f the number is one less, you selected correctly!
There are no rules, nobody is watching, so just have fun!
